In June 2004, the Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland areas were blessed by the presence and teachings of HH Swami Parmanandji. In just a few short days, Swamiji made a whirlwind of teachings, meditations and visits throughout the Washington Metropolitan region to full homes, churches and temples.
Upon his arrival in Northern Virginia, his first visit was to the home of Rev. Sherry Sherry (Savitri) & Rev. Altazar Smith (Satyanand) in Leesburg, Virginia. They were joined by Suchira Pande as translator for many of Swamiji's events in the DC area.
Mr. Bala Chandran of Image In Asian Television (MHz Channel) had set up a television interview for Swamiji, conducted by Ms. Suchira Pande, that was aired a few days later on the Image in Asian Television program. Mr. Chandran of Image in Asian was deeply moved by meeting Swamiji, and after hearing his on air interview with Ms. Pande thanked us over and over for bringing such a great person to his humble television studio. Mr. Chandran was so impressed with Swamiji's compassion and wisdom that he refused to accept any payment for advertising that had been previously run on his show for Swamiji. He has eagerly invited Swamiji to return any time to appear on their television program which airs every Saturday at 10:30 AM on MHz Television and reaches out to the entire Indian and Asian communities.
On Wednesday evening, Swamiji was introduced at the Network of Light for an evening of discourses and meditations. The founder of the Network of Light has traveled around the world and met many masters and teachers. She said she has never been so touched as she was by meeting Swamiji. The next day her phone and Rev. Sherry's phones were ringing continuously as people had heard about Swamiji's visit and wanted more information about how they could also attend one of his programs.
Swamiji had additional programs and teachings with Rev. Sherry Sherry at her home and at her Church (she is newly appointed Pastor of CCWH - Community Chapel for Wholistic Healing), where every seat was full, as people eagerly anticipated the arrival of Swamiji. By the end of each teaching and meditation, there was a profound and peaceful silence in the room that no one wanted to break, but finally we had to turn the lights back on and Swamiji began to hand out prasad to each person present.
At the Chapel for CCWH, when the evening was over, no one wanted to leave the chapel, lingering long after Swamiji had left with Mr. Anjaria to rest for the night.
Many of the people present had been studying and working on their spiritual lives for many, many years, yet they were deeply effected by the kind, compassionate and loving presence of a Master such as Swamiji. A few people that were newly begun in their spiritual paths were equally awestruck at their experiences around Swamiji, and how touched they were by the simple, clear and concise truths that were his teachings at each program. During the meditation at the end of each program, the presence of Peace and Serenity could be felt throughout the room.
CCWH had also arranged for a mid-day program at the Chapel for Swamiji the next day (Saturday). As people were leaving that night (Friday), you could hear them discussing how they could rearrange their busy weekend schedule so that they could return for more teachings and meditations with Swamiji the next day. They felt they could not afford to miss such a rare opportunity as to hear the words and teachings of Swamiji and to be in his presence.
On Sunday, June 20, Network of Light and Barbara Carpenter had the great joy of hosting Swami Parmanandji for a second evening of Spiritual Teachings and Meditations. Swamiji spoke to a full house. His teachings are clear and concise and brought a new level of awareness even to those who have been pursuing their spiritual studies for many years. Once again, no one wanted to leave for hours after the evening was over.
His teachings reach people in all levels of their spiritual growth. His meditations brought profound results for many in attendance. One gentleman was so moved by his meditation experience that he went outside to be surrounded by nature. His eyes were filled with tears of joy from his experience, he could barely speak in his profound happiness and peace. Everyone present was touched by Swamiji's presence.
The next day Swamiji and I departed for Sacramento to join Laima Druskis (Nitya) and Mary DeMartino. With little rest, Swamiji was once again tirelessly sharing his teachings, and his compassion with all that are called to him. His calm presence never wavers, no matter how much travel, or how little rest he recieves.
I have always been truly impressed with the peace and serenity that emanates from Swamiji's presence, and the light in his eyes. I know in my soul that Swamiji is one of the most profound souls living on our planet at this time, that he is a True Master, filled with Love and Compassion for All Living Beings.
